This past week was an incredible one for our two FRC Robotics teams, who competed in the Canadian Pacific Regional competition in Vancouver! We’re bursting with pride at their achievements. Facing off against 48 teams from five countries, our Sparkans showed true grit and determination.

Team 9277 (Sparkans) finished the qualifier in 16th place, a fantastic result! Their performance culminated in a strong showing in the playoffs, reaching the fourth round – their best ever! Beyond their competitive success, they were also recognized for their commitment to sustainability within the FIRST Robotics program, receiving the Team Sustainability Award for mentoring new members and fostering knowledge sharing. This award reflects their dedication to building a strong and lasting robotics program at our school.

Our all-girl team, Sparkanovas 10384, made a remarkable rookie debut and earned the prestigious Rookie All-Star Award. This win celebrates their inspiring outreach activities and their methodical approach to designing a highly functional robot, perfectly embodying the FIRST mission of promoting STEM education.

And the accolades didn’t stop there! Henock S., a shining example of leadership and dedication, won the Dean’s List Finalist award. His commitment to FIRST’s core values, exceptional contributions to the team, and excellence in STEM have earned him a well-deserved invitation to the FRC World Championship in Houston!

A massive thank you goes out to Ms. Roa, Mr. Mackrory, Mr. S. Nelson, Ms. Kochan, Ms. Caplan and our parent mentors for their invaluable support and encouragement throughout the build season. Their dedication is instrumental to our teams’ success.

Next stop: Hawaii! We can’t wait to see what these amazing teams accomplish next. Congratulations again to everyone involved – you’ve made us incredibly proud!
