Students in our grade 8 and 9 Robotics course are working collaboratively to design, build, and program robots using through the VEX IQ platform capable of navigating a challenging obstacle course. Along the way, students are building their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, all while refining their remote control techniques to ensure their robots can conquer each obstacle. The student teams are building and iterating their unique robots showcasing their different strategies.
Once students have practiced their building, driving, and coding skills through in-class challenges, they will tackle the annual VEX IQ Challenge: Rapid Relay. The challenge will occur in class with teams both collaborating and competing for the highest score.
The VEXiq robotics platform serves as an engaging and innovative tool for our grade 8 and 9 students in the Robotics option class, providing them with hands-on experience in engineering and programming. This platform allows students to design, build, and program robots using versatile components and an intuitive block-based coding interface. By exploring concepts such as mechanics, robotics, and automation, students cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity while collaborating on exciting projects that spark their interest in STEM fields. Through the VEXiq platform, learners not only develop technical skills but also gain valuable teamwork experience as they tackle challenges together, preparing them for future technological advancements.
