After months of research, planning, building and creating the 2024 Calgary Youth Science Fair is complete. The event was held in the Olympic Oval at the University of Calgary attracting around 700 projects and almost 1,000 students in grades 5-12 from over 100 schools. The science fair season began with our own STEMIA Science Fair in February, with many of those projects advacing to the city science fair to represent our school.

STEM Innovation Academy Junior High was well represented at the event, with several of our students earning medals and awards.
-Solar and Renewable Energy Award – Shravan & Diego grade 9
-UCalgary Dept. of Geoscience Secondary Award – Mannat Grade 7
-Lalani Mathematics Award – Elliott
-Shad Award for Social Innovators – Shewa Grade 9
-Pfizer Oncology Science Award – Sara Grade 9
-Schulich School of Engineering Second Prize – Joel Grade 9
-Buckley Family Award for Engineering (Secondary) & CYSF Travel Award – Joel Grade 9
-CYSF Top Junior Award – Ella & her partner, Ariel from Tom Baines School Grade 7
-CYSF Junior Life Science Award & Travel Award – Ella & Ariel Grade 7
Our students also earned 5 Honourable mentions, 2 Bronze Medals, 2 Silver Medals, and 7 Gold Medals.
