Our STEM Innovation Science Fair was an incredible event last week on February 23. Students from grades 7, 8, and 9 showcased their hardwork, ingenuity, and creativity through an wide range of projects and topics.

The Solar Spear Efficient Solar UAV project asked the question, “Can we create a highly maneuverable, off-the-grid, solar-efficient UAV? AND THEY DID!

Grade 9 students Diego and Shravan worked tirelessly to design, redesign, print, and prototype their Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). After several iterations, they found a design that could not only fly under their remote control, but also accommodate their solar panels.

They will be improving their design and sharing the next iteration at the Calgary Youth Science Fair CYSF in mid-April.
