Our Grade 8 students were tasked with representing their knowledge of Medieval Europe by building a Medieval “World”. Their world could have been a digital or physical model, 2D map, or a newspaper sharing the events of their ‘village’.
Their projects included elements of the Medieval times from the Alberta Program of Studies such as the Crusades, the Black Death, feudalism, the role of the Church, the worst jobs of the middle ages, the Silk Road, farmland, manors, village life, and knights.
The essential question guiding students’ work and their village was: “How do social systems, the economy, the church, the crusades and the black death impact life in the Middle Ages?”
A group of students created a 3D world in Minecraft. Thank you to Roby, Ryan, Ryder, and Neel in 8B for all their efforts and this wonderful representation of Medieval Europe.
