Skills Exploration Day on December 5th brought an exhilarating blend of education and hands-on experience to over 60 Junior High Schools across Alberta. This engaging event aimed to ignite the curiosity and passion for craftsmanship among the 15 STEM Innovation Academy students participating.  They were given the unique opportunity to delve into the world of power tools and hand tools across many disciplines including electrical, plumbing, sheet metal, wood working and photography. The day unfolded with a collective project that united our students as a team, challenging them to synergize their skills and creativity.

The highlight of the event was the collaborative construction of a innovative shower system. This forward-thinking project not only showcased the students’ ability to work harmoniously but also addressed a crucial environmental concern. The team successfully built a shower that not only collected water efficiently but also implemented a filtering mechanism. The filtered water was ingeniously recycled back into the shower, embodying sustainability and resourcefulness. Skills Exploration Day not only equipped students with practical skills but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards environmental stewardship, making it a truly enriching and impactful educational experience.
