Our grade 8 team has been working together to design and deliver some exciting and engaging learning for the Renaissance and Mechanical Systems units from the Alberta Program of Studies.

This week students were challenged to design and built a working prototype of a printing press using tools and supplies from our Maker Space. Using the design process, students collaborated in teams to design contraptions with multiple simple machines that would press ink onto the page. These designs were then put to the test and iterated upon throughout the challenge time.

Prototypes were assessed for their Functionality, Strength, and inclusion of Simple Machines and World View. The score on the challenge project earned each team points that became Florens for their ongoing Renaissance Game.
