Some of our students went on their first field trip in over 2 years! The grade 8 architectural technologies students went on a field trip to downtown Calgary. The goal of the field trip was to look for different designs and ways form follows function. Students were also tasked with noticing different problems in Calgary that could be solved with architectural solutions.
The students were the tour guides! In groups, students had to prepare an infographic that included general information, examples of form following function, possible problems, and interesting design features. They also had to prepare a script that they would read during their presentations. The buildings and areas presented on included:
- Eau Claire Market
- Chinese Cultural Centre
- Harmony Park (Formerly known as James Short Park)
- Stephen Avenue
- Olympic Plaza
- Telus Sky
- Calgary Tower
- Calgary Central Public Library
- Studio Bell
- Fort Calgary
- St. Patrick’s Island
